WHAT TO EXPECT
On the Job Experience for Emergency Services

The purpose of LFA’s Resident Trainee Program is to provide educational and on-the-job training experiences for individuals wishing to pursue a career in fire and emergency services while also providing high-quality responses to the patrons of our community.

Our residents learn fire and EMS operating principles throughout their 48/96-hour rotation at a full-time staffed station while attending school to pursue degrees in fire and EMS with tuition assistance.  When not on their assigned shift, residents' primary living quarters are at a fire station where all housing is paid for.

"The culture and organization are surely superior to most working environments because we are working with a far greater purpose than just serving ourselves.  Over time; the firehouse where we eat, sleep, and work together, comes to feel like a home.  Who wouldn’t want a job where coming to work feels like going home?

And even as a volunteer, you are regarded as an equal member of the organization.  Not only do you learn so many amazing skills...you also get to build a supportive community with your peers, and you get to have a positive impact by helping others in the community at large."
